Eligibility Individuals in their own name or jointly with family members. Minors’ accounts represented by a natural guardian are also permitted.
KYC Norms Accounts need to be fully KYC compliant with an Officially Valid Document (OVD) and PAN Card/Form 60. The following OVDs are acceepted:
  • Passport (valid)
  • Aadhaar
  • Driving License (valid)
  • Voter ID issued by Election Commission of India
  • Job card issued by NREGA, signed by a State Government officer
  • Letter from the National Population Register with name and address details
Minimum Balance Zero balance requirement for account opening and maintenance.
Transactions No limit on deposits; however, withdrawals are limited to  4 per month, including ATM withdrawals. Additional transactions are charged at Rs20 + applicable taxes per transaction.
Cheque Book Issued on request at Rs 3 per leaf.
Debit Card Free ATM-cum-debit card (basic variant) with no AMC charges.
Internet & Mobile Banking Available for easy account access.
Outstation Cheque Collection Allowed with normal collection charges. Immediate credit is not allowed.
Conversion to Regular SB Account Permitted on request and subject to the minimum balance requirement.
Other Conditions
  • Basic Savings Bank Deposit Account (BSBDA) account holders cannot open another savings account in the same bank.
  • Customers with existing savings accounts must close them before opening a BSBD account.
  • A declaration stating that there is no BSBD account in any other bank is required.
     
  • Visit your nearest South Indian Bank branch.
  • Fill out the Account Opening Form.
  • Submit necessary KYC documents.
  • Your account will be activated upon successful verification.
